High-end designed whimsical lighting.
Walls finished with Venetian plaster lend romance to this powder room, which has a vessel sink on an iron stand with a marble slab top, and wall-mount faucets. Pendant lighting adds pizzazz.

Pedestal sinks can look sleek, modern and glamorous, and are often less expensive than other options. But they offer little or no counter or storage space. “Think about whether you’ll want at least some storage,” Kubli suggests.

After choosing a cabinet, the next step is the sink basin. “You can choose over-mounted, under-mounted, or free-standing,” Kubli says. “There are so many beautiful sink options.”

Under-mounted sinks create a sleek, smooth line and may be a good choice if the countertop is granite or marble. Over-mounted sinks have a lip that extends over the counter. A free-standing, or vessel sink, sits on top of the cabinet or counter.

Even without a new sink, new faucets and handles can be a simple way to upgrade a powder room. “They can range from inexpensive chrome to gold-plated with semi-precious stones set into the handles,” Kubli says. continued
